MANSFIELD, PA (April 2020) You can’t turn on the news today without hearing unsettling reports about the Coronavirus and its impact on our families, communities, health care organizations, and the economy. But there are also stories of volunteerism and kindness, of people and organizations with a desire to do more.

First Citizens Community Bank (FCCB) decided to do more when they recently made donations totaling $50,000 to help a variety of health care and community organizations in their fight against the Coronavirus. Donations were made to the Guthrie Emergency Response Fund, UPMC/Susquehanna Health, Lancaster General COVID-19 Response Fund, Evangelical Community Hospital, Geisinger Fund COVID-19 Testing, Trinity Health MidAtlantic/St. Francis Health Care, WellSpan Health, Northern Tier Counseling, Liberty Lutheran Senior Services, Central PA Food Bank, First Responders Children’s Foundation, Lancaster Water Street Mission, Welsh Mountain Health Centers, United Way of Lebanon, Tabor Community Services, State College Food Bank, Wellsboro Area School District Student & Family Food Program.

“During these unprecedented times, every individual and organization has to step up and do their part,” stated Randall E. Black, CEO and President. “We strongly believe in this and support it with our actions. We’re proud to assist organizations who are stepping up to help our families, friends, neighbors and customers in their time of need. Afterall, we are a Community Bank and are all in this together!”

As a financial services provider, First Citizens is considered an essential business and has have taken major steps to continue serving their customers while keeping the risk to employees and customers at a minimum. Their team has spent the last two weeks working diligently to help their business loan customers through the newly introduced SBA Paycheck Protection Program so they can obtain funds to keep their staff employed. This has been a significant undertaking for all banks but an imperative one to help the business community survive.

“I could not be more proud of our Team,” stated Black, “especially since many of them are also working on our acquisition of Delaware-based MidCoast Community Bank scheduled for April 17th. Their commitment to our customers, and to each other, has been remarkable. The patience, understanding, and compassion they exhibit every day is heartwarming, not to mention the extraordinary number of hours being worked under less than desirable conditions. They say it’s times like these that you find out what you are made of. There is no other TEAM that I would want to go through this with! Our customers have consistently voted us the #1 bank in PA for satisfaction and trust in Forbes nationwide surveys and it’s this Team we have to thank for it! Stay safe, stay strong, and hold your families tight.”
