Sayre Borough Advances Community Playground Project with FCCB
07/30/2025
Sayre, PA (August 2025) - The Borough of Sayre is moving ahead with plans for a revitalized community playground as it prepares for the pending transfer of the playground property from First Citizens Community Bank (FCCB) to the Borough. This property transfer is a critical step that enables Friends of The Valley Playland to proceed with their initiative to develop an enhanced play space for local children and families. The Bradford County Planning Commission has facilitated the transfer.
"This transfer of property is a foundational step for the playground project, and FCCB's cooperation has been instrumental," said Dave Jarrett from Sayre Borough. "We deeply appreciate their partnership throughout this process as we work to bring an improved recreational area to Sayre."
Lori Unger, President of Friends of The Valley Playland, commented, "Securing the property is a major step for our organization and the community. With the help of FCCB, we are now able to actively pursue the next phases of planning and development for our new playground. We're excited to announce that we'll be partnering with Play By Design as our playground project manager and consultant, the same group we successfully worked with in Athens."
Following the formal transfer of ownership, Sayre Borough, in collaboration with Friends of The Valley Playland and the Northern Tier Regional Planning Commission, will focus on securing the necessary funding for the new playground. This will include preparing a grant application for the Local Share Account (LSA) through DCED, which opens for applications from September to November 2025, and identifying other potential grant and funding opportunities.
In addition to the donation of the property, FCCB is proud to actively support the Sayre Playground project with a $10,000 donation to help advance this community effort. This contribution continues FCCB's long and deep partnership in the Sayre area, a history that includes being one of the first sponsors of the Sayre Christmas Parade in 1999 and serving as its presenting sponsor for over a decade. FCCB's commitment also extends to providing Thanksgiving donations to key organizations like The Bridge and House of Hope, and most recently, supporting the restoration of the historic Howard Elmer Park bandstand.
The community will receive further updates as the project progresses. A banner will be placed at the playground site to keep residents informed. As the property transfer is finalized, FCCB will continue to maintain the grounds and handle the removal of existing playground equipment and benches.
Based in Mansfield, Pennsylvania, FCCB operates 39 community offices strategically positioned across Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, and New Jersey.
