FCCB Builds Better Communities One Day at a Time

03/15/2022

At First Citizens Community Bank (FCCB), their mission of building better communities was made apparent in their recent donation of $20,000, which the Bank pledged to the Susquehanna Health Foundation. The donation will support hospitals in North Central Pennsylvania, including facilities in Wellsboro, Williamsport, Lock Haven and Muncy. Every dollar will stay local to provide life-changing medicine close to the Bank’s headquarters, Mansfield, PA.

Notably, FCCB also recently donated $25,000 toward the Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships Raise the Region online fundraising event. The first of its kind in Tioga County, PA, the annual Raise the Region event supports non-profits based in Tioga County. FCCB’s donation was made in memory of Lynne and Lowell Coolidge. Mr. Coolidge was the Chairman of the Bank’s board from 1989 until 2021, and he and his wife, Lynne, had a profound impact on many Tioga County community organizations.

Promoting education is another way FCCB shows their dedication. In December, 2021 FCCB donated $350,000 to 47 educational enrichment programs across the state of Pennsylvania through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. For many years, FCCB has supported the EITC program, which provides tuition assistance and also funds innovative programs in the classroom and after school. FCCB’s donations cover scholarship opportunities, theatre education, a travelling math lab, a travelling agricultural science lab, counseling and addiction prevention for children, classroom grants for teachers, and more.

“Giving back to the communities we serve is something we support wholeheartedly at FCCB, because it is part of our mission as a Community Bank,” noted Randall E. Black, President and CEO. “It’s something we’ve been doing for 150 years. We are proud to remain committed to the core beliefs and values on which our bank was first founded.”

Employees of the Bank share the “community spirit” too. Throughout the year, employees participate a series of Casual for a Cause events, where employee donations are distributed locally and where there is need. FCCB employees recently held a book and toy drive to collect items for kids who may struggle to have something special to call their own. The drive resulted in the collection of over 125 books, dozens of stuffed animals and numerous games, toys and puzzles that will be distributed.
